B.O.M. Reading Challenge!!

July 7, 2013

This Sunday we had a wonderful lesson about tools by Sister Porter.  Okay it wasn't just about tools, but it was about the tools that our loving Heavenly Father has given us to use in this life so that we may return to Him.
I loved Sister Porters lesson she started off describing how in her childhood home there was the common dilemma of having a hard time finding import tools like screw drivers, pizza cutters and the beloved spatulas.  So instead of being able to grab a screw driver and unscrew a screw, her and her siblings would get creative and use things like a butter knife.  She tied story in to the fact that the Lord has given us tools as well.  Tools like a modern day Prophet, the Priesthood, the power of prayer and of coarse the Scriptures.
Sister Porter also went over the fact that everything takes practice.  I enjoyed the analogy that she used.  She had brought a violin and she told us all the things that she knew about the violin, and all about how she loved the violin and loved to listen to it played.  Though she had never had lessons or practiced, she was going to play for us.  She had music in front of her and she put the violin on her shoulder and played beautifully.  We were all really amazed....well that didn't really happen.  It sounded just how you would think it would sound if it was your first time playing the violin.  Everything takes practice.  So in order for us to become as perfect as we can in this life and to understand as much as we can from our Heavenly Father, we need to practice reading our Scriptures.  We have started a 90 day challenge in the Relief Society and ask for you to join us in our challenge to finish the Book of Mormon in 90 days. You can print off the reading schedule below if you weren't able to get one in Relief Society today.
I encourage you all to do your best with this challenge and I would ask that if you have an experience with reading your scriptures that you would like to share, I would be more than happy to post it on the blog.  You can email me at iamsambo.20@gmail.com.

Thank you sisters for all that you do and enjoy your week!
